Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
St. Helena

First planted in 1858 and revived by Andy Beckstoffer in 1997, Dr. Crane is one of Napa Valley’s most historic and coveted Cabernet vineyards.

Located on the west side of St. Helena, just steps from downtown, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard combines history, pedigree, and singular terroir. Originally planted in 1858 by Napa pioneer George B. Crane, the site was replanted in 1998 under Andy Beckstoffer’s care with multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Its gravelly loam soils, shaped by an old riverbed and rock quarry, give the wines their hallmark structure and complexity.

TOR farms a block planted to the rare, low-yielding Clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon—renowned for depth and power—alongside a parcel of Cabernet Franc that is sometimes bottled on its own, other years co-fermented. Dr. Crane wines are known for their silky tannins, layered elegance, and an ability to impress even in youth.
